Introduction to the Diecasting Process

The Process

The process of diecasting dates back from the earlier years during the time when the method used was called low pressure injection. In the previous years, the materials that go through this method were only lead and tin but today, there are more components that can also be rendered this way such as alloys, copper and magnesium. To provide an overview on the dies, it is composed of two parts, the fixer and the ejector. These molds are made up of alloy steel. Other variations will have four different types of dies such as unit, combinations, multiple and single cavity. The creation of these diecast materials is made under intensified speed and pressure from the moment the molten metals are injected through the die. Because of the ranges of speed and pressure, these lead to the end-products being accurate and precise. The pressure placed upon the materials needs to be maintained until the forms are solidified and are shaped into their desired outcome. When the metal reaches the desired hardness, the die will have to be opened and the final product should be removed.
